Young Carers
A Young Carer is someone under the age of 18 who looks after a family member or friend who has a physical or mental health condition, or addiction. They may also look after btothers, sisters or elderly relatives too. There are probably more young carers out there than we think. They take on extra respnsilbilities, like dressing the person they look after, cooking, cleaning, shopping, collecting prescriptions. It's a lot to take on as a child. If you think your child might be a Young Carer, we are here to help. We can access support for your family.

This year, we will be working closely with St Helens Young Carers to offer oppartunities and support to children and families in our school. as well as working towards the Young carers Award. This year we are
- Making everyone aware of our Young Carers Champions
- Signposting children to support via our website and displays in school
- Welcoming St Helens Young carers to St James' - they will be talking to children in a worship and in classes
- Introducing our Young Carers policy
