SEND

At St James’ we believe that every child is unique and each and every child is put first. This is also our vision for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We aim to ensure that all children achieve their potential throughout their time with us.

The school has a named Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), Mrs. Conant, and a named Governor responsible for SEN, Mrs. McNulty.

If you have any queries, Mrs Conant can be contacted through the school office on 01744 678545 or by email stjameshaydock@ldst.org.uk Concerns about statutory assessments of special educational needs should be raised direct with local authorities.

Any complaints about SEND should be addressed in writing to the Executive Headteacher Mrs J Young or to our Chair of Governors Mr William Wiswell if the complaint is about the Executive Headteacher.

Further information about SEND at St James’ C.E. Primary School can be found in the documents below.

On September 1st 2014, a revised Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Code of Practice was introduced. The reforms aim to implement a new approach which seeks to join up help across education, health and care, from birth to 25.
